Both are worth reading, and they answer different questions. A star rating tells you whether people were happy. A story tells you what actually happened on the day, which is the thing you cannot find out from a score.

Three themes recur: the makeup lasting through a full day, punctuality on an early morning, and feeling calm rather than rushed while it was happening.
The durability point comes up most often, and it is usually specific, makeup surviving a vidaai, an outdoor mandap, or a reception that ran past midnight. That is a function of the choice between HD and airbrush as much as application: airbrush is chosen for long and outdoor functions precisely because that is where cream bases fail.
The punctuality point matters more than it sounds. A late artist compresses everything after them, and on a wedding morning there is nothing downstream that can absorb the delay.
What to ask
What to ask a past client
If you know someone who has booked a makeup artist, the useful questions are not about the photographs. Ask what time the artist arrived relative to what was agreed, whether the final price matched the quote, and whether they had to touch up their own face during the day.
