Why do quotes vary so much?

The spread is structural, not a measure of skill. Artists differ in what they bundle, so two quotes for the same wedding can look 40% apart while describing the same work.

Three things are bundled by some artists and billed separately by others: hairstyling, saree or lehenga draping, and travel to your venue. A quote of ₹15,000 for makeup alone, plus ₹4,000 hairstyling, plus ₹1,500 draping, plus ₹2,000 travel, is a ₹22,500 booking.

The second variable is the finish. Airbrush costs more than HD everywhere, typically ₹3,000 more, because the product and the application time both cost more. The third is the trial, some artists include it, some charge for it, and some charge only if you do not book.

None of this is dishonest. It only becomes a problem when you compare a bundled number against an unbundled one and conclude the bundled artist is expensive.

What should bridal makeup include?

At minimum: consultation, skin prep, full makeup application, hairstyling, draping, and on-location service. If any of those are missing from a quote, they will appear later as an add-on.

A wedding-day booking is not only the makeup. Draping alone takes about forty minutes and changes the silhouette more than any amount of contouring. Hairstyling adds another hour. An artist who prices makeup alone is pricing perhaps half the morning.

Ask specifically whether a touch-up kit is handed over before the reception. On a fourteen-hour day the base will need attention once, and having the exact products to hand matters.

Standalone hairstyling starts at ₹2,500 and standalone draping at ₹1,500, both already included in the wedding, engagement and celebrity packages above. Mehendi, reception, cocktail, destination bridal and editorial work are quoted per booking because duration and travel vary too much for a fixed rate.

Does the price change by area?

The makeup price does not. Only travel does, and only for some areas.

There is no travel charge inside Mira Bhayandar limits, Mira Road, Bhayandar and Naigaon. Borivali is 11 km from the Mira Road base, Kandivali 14 km and Malad 18 km; those may carry a small travel component for pre-6am call times. Andheri is 25 km, Thane 28 km and Bandra 35 km, where travel is quoted per booking.

Any artist charging travel should tell you the figure at enquiry, not add it to the final bill.

How to compare quotes properly

Ask every artist for one all-in figure covering makeup, hairstyling, draping, the trial and travel to your venue at your call time. Compare those numbers — not the headline rates.

Four questions settle almost every pricing ambiguity: Is hairstyling included? Is draping included? Is the trial included or charged? Is travel to my venue at my start time included?

The most common surprise brides report is the hairstyling add-on, which is why it is worth asking first rather than last.

It is also fair to ask what happens if your function overruns. Most artists build in a reasonable buffer; knowing whether yours does is better than finding out at 11pm.
